To strengthen the continuum of care between health facilities and community support services, FANTA worked with the Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children; Tanzania Food and Nutrition Centre (TFNC); and PEPFAR Implementing Partners to develop a NACS training manual in Kiswahili for community care providers. Comprising a Facilitator’s Guide and Participant Handouts, the manual was used to train trainers and community service providers working with the USAID/Tanzania flagship orphans and vulnerable children project, Pamoja Tuwalee (“Together We Care”). FANTA provided technical and financial support to TFNC to train community NACS trainers that cascaded NACS training and services to community care providers and empowerment workers in 22 regions.

The manual has been endorsed by the Government of Tanzania through the Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children, and continues to be used by many partners.
