Community-based management of acute malnutrition (CMAM) works best when integrated into other nutrition-related activities at the national and district levels. Assessments of current services are essential for creating successful community outreach strategies. This report details the findings of a review of community health initiatives operating across the 15 states of north Sudan that are supported either by the Federal Ministry of Health or by some of the major agencies that operate in the country. The review focuses on community health workers and/or community volunteers, as well as staff who work at health facilities but who have a defined community role or responsibility as part of their jobs.
