In the last few years, there has been rising interest in and use of dietary diversity indicators, which provide one relatively simple proxy measure for micronutrient density or adequacy of diets. Recently, FANTA and FAO supported the development of a new indicator and guide: “Minimum Dietary Diversity for Women: A Guide to Measurement.”
On April 13, one of the guide authors, Mary Arimond of UC Davis, introduced the guide during a webinar held by CORE Group's Nutrition Working Group. Arimond’s presentation covered the background/rationale for food group diversity indicators, the contents of the new guide, and the uses and limitations of the new indicator.
