FANTA Technical Advisor Reena Borwankar presented Wednesday, December 9, 2015, 9:30am-10:30am at a webinar hosted by CORE Group on "Integrating Family Planning with Nutrition and Food Security."
Family planning and reproductive health services have been prioritized in the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Multi-Sectoral Nutrition Strategy 2014–2025 as important interventions that address the underlying and systemic causes of malnutrition. The potential for integrated approaches and solutions to complex and multifaceted development challenges is also being closely examined in the post 2015 development era with the adoption of the interconnected Sustainable Development Goals and targets.
The webinar focused on why linking family planning with nutrition and food security is important and how programs are delivering integrated services. Participants learned about:
- Evidence on the impacts of family planning on nutrition and food security
- Programmatic experiences, including models, platforms, and promising practices for integrating family planning with nutrition and food security interventions
- ENGAGE multimedia presentation Improving Nutrition and Food Security through Family Planning and how to use it for advocacy purposes
