FANTA and the Uganda Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development worked together to develop a user-friendly package of materials to strengthen the capacity of community development officers and mobilizers to improve food and nutrition security within communities in Uganda.
The orientation guide provides guidance in conducting a 3-day session on integrating food and nutrition security into community mobilization activities using the community mobilization guide and flipchart. The orientation guide is intended for national stakeholders to orient district and municipal community development officers and staff of Feed the Future implementing partners, as well as for regional teams to orient sub-county community development officers.
The community mobilization guide and flipchart provides community mobilizers with the appropriate knowledge, skills, and reference materials to carry out activities required to integrate food and nutrition security messages into their work. This will lead to communities that are better able to take action to improve their food and nutrition security. The guide is intended primarily for community mobilisers who directly interface with communities on a regular basis.
In addition, FANTA assisted with the development of a monitoring and supervision tool to enable the Ministry to assess the process and status of integration of food and nutrition security and early childhood development into community development programming.
