On October 6, 2015, 3:30 p.m.–5:30 p.m., FHI 360 hosted a presentation and discussion on indicators to assess holistic interventions for child growth and development. Dr. Edward Frongillo, Jr., Professor and Chair of the Department of Health Promotion, Education, and Behavior in the Arnold School of Public Health, University of South Carolina, shared his current research and findings exploring indicators beyond stunting to measure outcomes and impacts of integrated nutrition, health, and ECD interventions, building upon a symposium he presented last year in Washington, D.C., and his recent publication in the Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences.
Dr. Maureen Black, Professor in the Department of Pediatrics and the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, provided us with key information on the effort to holistically measure child well-being and guided us, along with Dr. Frongillo, in discussion and possible paths for moving forward. A reception followed the presentation and discussion.
