FANTA’s extensive work on measuring household food insecurity includes the development of the Household Food Insecurity Access Scale (HFIAS) as an indicator for household food access in developing countries. FANTA also worked with Tufts University and Cornell University to conduct a review of food insecurity scale applications and conducted a study to compare the performance of the same set of food security items in Burkina Faso and Bangladesh. This research has been summarized in three FANTA reports, and related articles have also been published in a Journal of Nutrition supplement and in the Food and Nutrition Bulletin.
