In the inspiring documentary “The Uganda Nutrition Fellowship: Creating Leaders in Nutrition,” recent nutrition graduates tell the story of their unique opportunity to receive work experience, professional development, and mentorship from several host organizations. The Fellowship was implemented by FANTA to help these graduates develop strong skills in program design and implementation, advocacy, M&E, and accountability.

Cote d’Ivoire Nutrition Assessment, Counseling and Support (NACS) Job Aids

A new set of visual nutrition assessment, counseling, and support (NACS) job aids is now available. The 43 job aids were developed by FANTA, in collaboration with Cote d’Ivoire’s National Nutrition Program, for use by health facility-based care workers when diagnosing and managing undernutrition, overweight, and obesity for children, adolescent and adult clients.

Nigeria Nutrition Assessment, Counseling and Support (NACS) Job Aids

Job aids to guide nutrition service provision are now available in Nigeria. FANTA worked with the Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH) to develop these counseling materials as part of Nigeria’s initiative to integrate nutrition assessment, counseling, and support (NACS) into its health services delivery system.

World Breastfeeding Week 2017

Malawi Nutrition Care, Support, and Treatment (NCST) Counselling and Education Flipcharts

When counselling adolescent and adults living with HIV and TB clients, service providers need to be able to quickly identify a client’s problem. With this need in mind, FANTA and the Malawi Ministry of Health (MOH) developed a nutrition care support and treatment (NCST) counselling flip chart (in English and Chichewa) that helps service providers focus counselling using simple, specific, and tailored solutions that are likely to be adopted by clients.

Uganda Monitoring and Support Supervision Checklists and Monthly Reporting Form for Nutrition Coordination Committees

To support the efforts of Uganda’s multi-sectoral nutrition coordination committees, FANTA and the Uganda Office of the Prime Minister Nutrition Secretariat have developed a set of tools for monitoring, reporting on, and tracking progress of nutrition governance and Multi-Sectoral Nutrition Action Plan (MSNAP) activities at all levels of local government. The tools include support supervision checklists and a quarterly reporting template.

Algorithms for Management of Undernutrition and Overnutrition in Children and Adults

Algorithms can provide visual guidelines for diagnosing and treating malnutrition. The four algorithms in this set provide a step-by-step approach to managing underweight, normal nutrition status, and overweight and obesity. They cover such topics as anthropometric measurements cut-offs, criteria for in-patient management, and guidelines for out-patient nutrition counseling and prescription of ready-to-use therapeutic foods/supplements. Online “Nutrition-Sensitive Agricultural Programming” Course Helps Bridge the Gap between Nutrition and Agriculture

Nutrition-Sensitive Agricultural Programming is a unique online course that introduces the fundamentals of nutrition-sensitive agriculture and provides guidelines for program design. Hosted on the Agrilinks and USAID University websites, this USAID-funded course helps development program managers create agriculture programs for smallholder farmers that support good nutrition outcomes.
