Uganda Health Management Information System for Nutrition (HMIS) Training Package

FANTA has developed a training package to build the capacity of health services providers responsible for collecting and reporting nutrition data in Uganda. The training material covers nutrition data elements in the Health Management Information System (HMIS), and provides tools and approaches for ensuring ensuring quality data collection and reporting at district, health sub-district, health facility, and central/national levels.

Uganda Multi-Sectoral Nutrition Coordination Committee Orientation Package

To strengthen the capacity of nutrition coordination structures at the local government level in Uganda, FANTA, the Office of the Prime Minister, and partners developed the Uganda Multi-Sectoral Nutrition Coordination Committee Orientation Package. Stakeholders will use the package to establish and operationalise multi-sectoral nutrition coordination committees (NCCs), including communicating their roles and responsibilities as part of the Uganda multi-sectoral nutrition coordination framework, and to understand the current nutrition situation and policy environment.

Impact Story: Preparing Young Nutrition Graduates to Lead the Fight against Malnutrition in Uganda

The Uganda Nutrition Fellowship (UNF) program, funded by Feed the Future, provides recent nutrition graduates with practical experience, professional development, and mentorship. Between 2013–2016, FANTA implemented two rounds of the UNF program, supporting 20 nutrition graduates, multiple public and private-sector host organizations, and ultimately, Uganda’s fight against malnutrition.

The findings from and implications of the USAID Office of Food for Peace (USAID/FFP)-supported multi-year studies on the impact and cost-effectiveness of the Preventing Malnutrition in Children Under 2 Approach (PM2A) in Burundi and Guatemala were presented and discussed at an event on September 11, 2017. The event was hosted by FANTA, Catholic Relief Services (CRS), IFPRI, and Mercy Corps, with support from USAID/FFP.

Cote d’Ivoire Nutrition Counseling Flipchart (Actions Essentielles en Nutrition Plus)

A new tool, available in French, provides health care providers and community workers in Cote d’Ivoire with key messages and visual aids needed to provide one-on-one counseling and group education on a  variety of nutrition topics including food groups for adequate nutrition, nutrition for pregnant and lactating women, breastfeeding, infant feeding in the context of HIV, nutrition care and support for people living with HIV, overweight, and food hygiene and healthy lifestyle.
